SDVoyager Interview: October 27, 2025
Today we’d like to introduce you to Zee FIELD.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey in fashion back in 1986… it feels like a lifetime ago! I was always fascinated by how ideas could turn into something tangible, a garment, a product, something people connect with. Over the years, that curiosity turned into a full career that’s taken me across countries and cultures.
I spent 27 years in Canada, where I really learned the business side of fashion, how to build collections, manage production, and work with clients from concept all the way to delivery. Later, I moved to the U.S. and founded Profade Apparel, which has grown into a company that helps brands bring their ideas to life. We handle everything from design and product development to manufacturing and logistics, working with more than 45 factories around the world.
What I love most is the mix of creativity and strategy, designing something beautiful is one thing, but making it real and making it work globally is another. And now, with offices in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Asia, it feels like the story has come full circle. It’s been a long road, but I still get excited every time we start something new.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Starting in a new country always comes with its own set of challenges. When I moved and began building Profade Apparel in the U.S., I had to prove myself all over again. I didn’t have a big budget or a local network, so everything had to be built from the ground up, one relationship, one client, one project at a time.
Convincing new clients to trust you takes more than a nice presentation. You have to show consistency, transparency, results and that takes time. There were moments of doubt, of course, but I always believed that if we stayed focused on quality and integrity, people would notice. And they did.
Over time, what really made the difference was the team. I’ve been fortunate to surround myself with professionals who share the same passion for this industry, people who care about details, who take pride in what they do, and who stand by our clients the way I do. Together, we’ve grown faster than I could have imagined, across continents and time zones. It’s been challenging, yes, but also incredibly rewarding.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Profade Apparel is a product development and manufacturing company but more than that, we’re creators and problem-solvers. We help brands bring their ideas to life, from the first sketch to the final delivery. Our clients are international, ranging from startups and emerging designers to department stores and licensing groups, and we customize the process for each one.
What sets us apart is how hands-on we are. We don’t just take an order to be produced… we design, develop, and match each product with the best possible factory. Our team manages every step: making fabrics, overseeing fittings, ensuring compliance, and coordinating logistics. With offices in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, we work across time zones to keep everything running smoothly.
After four decades in this industry, what I’m most proud of is our reputation for trust and collaboration. We’ve built a network of 45 factories, always growing, each with specialized expertise from technical garments to fine knitwear, accessories, home goods, toys and a team that truly cares about quality.
Brand-wise, I’m especially proud of our women’s line, LOULOU DAMOUR, which celebrates femininity and strength. It embodies everything we stand for: authenticity, creativity, and craftsmanship. At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to create beautiful, thoughtful products and build lasting partnerships around the world.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People often imagine that because I work in fashion and product development, my world is bursting with color, fabric swatches, and creative chaos. But the truth is, I’m quite the opposite. I’m drawn to calm, organized spaces and soft, neutral palettes. My personal style is simple, quiet, and intentionally understated.
That balance is what keeps me grounded. When you spend your days surrounded by trends, textures, and constant visual noise, simplicity becomes a form of clarity. It allows me to see ideas more sharply in design, in business, and in life.
Maybe that’s the secret to longevity in this industry. After all these years, I’m still inspired and I still genuinely love what I do.
